Matt Chandler is a documentary photographer based in Boise, Idaho. His work focuses on the American West—its infrastructure, its solitude, and the quiet evidence of lives lived in real places.

He approaches photography as an act of witness rather than possession: images made to transmit experience, not to own a moment. His practice is analog-influenced, minimally processed, and made without artificial intervention—primarily digital, with medium-format or 35mm film reserved for the slowest and most intentional work.

Carbon Copy Archive takes its name from the carbon copy: a physical trace produced through contact and pressure. The name reflects a belief in photography as evidence—human-made images of real people, places, and objects—and in the archive as a record built over time.

Previously published in automotive editorial media, Chandler is currently developing a long-term documentary project rooted in Idaho and the Interior West. He is available for editorial and commercial assignments across the region.
